Strategic HR Director Finance





For one of our clients, AkzoNobel in Amsterdam, we are currently looking for a Strategic HR Director Finance.

This HR Director Finance is responsible for the strategic HR direction and decisions for the Finance function, including:

  • Influencing impactful, strategic functions decisions, by focusing on leading change in people, organization and culture to drive profitable performance
  • Providing robust insights on functional needs and requirements to design and develop HR programs (with support of the Center of Expertise) and strategic HR interventions to improve and enhance business performance
  • Ensuring clear direction to regional HR teams in order to enable flawless execution in line with locally relevant policies and solutions.


The Strategic HR Director:

  • Leads organisation and people transformation and change agenda in function
  • Advises and supports the Functional Leadership Teams in their strategic organisation/people issues in areas such as:
    - Strategic organization / people direction setting
    - Driving performance (people/business)
    - Developing talent and secure succession for Key Positions
    - Strategic workforce planning (build org. capability and plan for future needs)
    - Co-driving adoption of the HR operating model
    - Leading and managing organizational effectiveness
  • Acts as coach and counsel to senior leaders to create a performance culture
  • Is responsible for providing direction to the Regional HR Teams on executional plans


Essential educational qualifications, relevant experience and requested skills:

  • Masters degree
  • More than ten years of related experience required, preferably in a multinational business environment with a wide portfolio (transformations, development of performance culture etc.)
  • Business minded and able to translate business requirements / challenges into practical deployment
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills (in English and Dutch) to effectively work with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent change management and facilitation skills
  • High degree of accuracy, prioritization skills and ability to independently seek solutions
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, coaching and advocacy skills
  • Continuous improvement mind set
  • Proven International orientation, work experience abroad and cultural awareness
