General (Plant) Manager

Currently our client is looking for a strong General (Plant) Manager who develops short and long term business plans and is responsible for implementation of the Manufacturing plant in the Netherlands which economically converts raw materials and vendor produced parts into a quality product, ready for shipment and on time delivery.
He or she leads the (Inside) Sales department and Product Managers, the planning department, manufacturing, engineering, OPEX, EHS and Quality assurance to achieve set targets in a cost effective way.

• Develops the strategy and positioning of the site and has PNL responsibility.
• Analyze, forecast, meet and report the annual operating budgets for: sales, production, investments, human resources, quality, customer delivery and profitability
• Controls smooth and efficient management processes in order to achieve the objectives. Maintaining and improving adequate operations systems to ensure productive work flows. Ensures production planning based on requirements (products, quality, volumes, and deadlines) in a cost effective way by optimizing the production flow.
• Takes initiatives, act pro-actively is a self-starter and delivers.
• Prepare and meet sourcing objectives to achieve the annual operating budgets.
• Prepare and effectively implement the sourcing strategy to meet quality, quantity and delivery requirements.
• Formulates concepts for investment and rationalization projects and for optimizing the machinery. Initiates product and process innovations and improvements.
• Ensures co-operation with other disciplines (not limited to product management, sales, operations). Takes part in projects at Group level and actively supports cross-working and cross-learning.
• Promotes and ensures compliance with the values and management principles.
• Develops and steers an efficient health, safety and environmental protection process which contributes to a zero harm culture.
• Represents the company in the local community. Lobbies to safeguard the interests of the Sites.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams by selecting, directing, motivating and energizing people which fosters effective teamwork.
• Execute the performance management system and ensure employee development.
• Ensure reporting in accordance with the divisional and corporate guidelines and legal requirements.
• Develop and maintain a team based, collaborative cultural environment
• Participating in and actively supporting new product development initiatives.
• Plans and co-ordinates the co-operation with external firms (e.g. outsourcing).
• Maintaining positive labor relations with unions and work council.

• Bachelor’s or masters degree (mechanical engineering) with additional Business Training in related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years manufacturing and project management experience in a B2B environment with a highly engineered product line.
• Excellent track record of developing people with an informal leadership style that values collaboration and contributions from others
• Strong Technical Commercial background will be an asset
• Able to read, analyze, understand, interpret ate and deliver financial data.
• Plant transformation experience
• Knowledge of the industry is a plus
• Fluency in English
